Metallic cadmium and nickel oxide hydroxide are used as electrode materials in nickel-cadmium batteries, also referred to as Ni-Cd batteries or NiCad batteries. It has four batteries with a 5000mAh current capacity and a 1.2V voltage. Lead-acid batteries are directly competed with by this battery. The relatively constant 1.2 V of a Ni–Cd cell is sufficient to enable functioning, even though many electronic devices are made to operate with primary cells that may discharge as low as 0.90 to 1.0 V per cell. The nearly constant voltage, which makes it challenging to tell when the battery is low, is viewed by some as a disadvantage.
Uses: Ni-Cd sealed cells can be used separately or in battery packs consisting of two or more cells. Toys and portable electronics (such as solar garden lights) use small cells, which are often manufactured to the exact same size as primary cells. When utilized in place of primary cells, Ni-Cd batteries may perform less well because of their lower terminal voltage and lower ampere-hour capacity. Tiny button cells are sometimes used in toys, novelty products, portable lights (such flashlights or torches), computer memory standby, and photographic equipment.
Features:
- Size affects how quickly a Ni-Cd battery charges.
- It has a maximum discharge rate of about 1.8A.
- Ni-Cd batteries are specifically made for boat and model airplane makers.
- The nominal cell potential of Ni–Cd cells is 1.2 volts (V). This is less than the 1.5 V of primordial cells that are alkaline and zinc-carbon.
- Main motors are driven by it. The model runs for five to six minutes.
- It can operate between -20 and 45 degrees Celsius.
